monkeyboy,

The box set DVD of: Czterej Pancerni i Pies. About 21 episodes with English subtitles.

Check first: Some versions of movies have English subtitles, others don't.

I've just been on the blockbuster site, and just couldn't find one polish title in 30.000.
So I rang the local blockbuster store....answer was we have foriegn language films but don't know what language they are. They asked for titles to search, I gave them six they found none.

Seems to me there is an opening for someone here.

Wroclaw... where can we obtain the sugested title?

This has nothing to do with Polish movies, but I saw a crazy british movie last night called "Dead Mans Shoes". It was pretty insane. Any othe movies from Shane Meadows any good?

There are many American and Canadian Polish film suppliers arround with the best range to choose from, but problems do occur in the UK.

The format --make sue you can play the movie when you get it....NTSC disc and video won't play on older players ...Rule of thumb , if its made in black plastic , its probably pal only.

If you have a more modern player you may be able to change the region to read NTSC but this can be troublesome. Its a lot easier on the computer to change the region and change back, but computers don't show the subtitles or play tapes.

So if your buying from the Americas make sure you buy a compatible product for your system...............

I understand what you're saying...it will be almost impossible to do.

But with a few basic lessons in Polish vocabulary, films are a great insight into day to day language, the way people realy do speake to one another in various situations.

After studying a film for 2/3 times you realy do begin to hear what is being said, the speach becomes clearer and they don't sound like a gaggle of geese any longer.

In America there is a vast amount of Polish film with english subtitle available. Just google Polish dvd and your'e away......
