My view on Poland's Future

Hello all my Polish friends! My name is Marcin Zygmunt Dudaniec. I am an 18 year old student, majoring in Business - Economics and Finance. I know this is a little bit dramatic for my very first post on these forums, but i am fed up with the defeatist attitude of many Polish people.

As i see it, Poland is a nation with an enormous amount of untapped economic and world influential power. I look at this from the perspective of Germany. (lets please forget out differences and look at the situation objectively). Germany is a powerful nation, we must admit. They are one of the largest economies on the planet, are very influential in all of the major international groups. (EU, UN, etc) This power can be attributed to the assistance they were given after WW2 by the US, the innovation of their people, and the willingness to move on. And the reason Poland doesn't have this power herself can be attributed to the way Poland's interests were ********* by war, and by being abandoned by her allies. Not to mention 60 or so years of communist oppression. However, Poland has had years to rebuild our power and economy, and we are not doing as well as we should be. What Poland needs, in my opinion, is a unified goal. We need to stop squabbling amongst ourselves and dividing our nation amongst political lines to unite in the pursuit of making Poland equal, if not greater in World influence then Germany. In the business model of Germany is how we should proceed. Politics need to be revamped, and we should lean more towards inter-European relations then relying on fake promises by the United States! Poland has the potential. We have the people, the intelligence, the resources and the drive.

Now all we need is a goal and a common denominator. The place to get this is the youth! Polish teens are very patriotic on the whole and we should all realize that boosting the economy is the way to create a better and stronger Poland! We need a pro-European Union leader, who is open to new ideas and progress.

Anyways, thats just my little rant, the situation is obviously more complicated then that, but i do believe the root cause of our problems is how we cant stop arguing amongst ourselves.

I dont know if many Polish people feel the same way as i do, but this is what i strongly and firmly believe. I love Poland and our culture, and would love to have a chance to fire Poland up!

now this will never happen Poland will be always a nation of agricutural works , cleaners , etc , and that is if does not the fully control again but Germany or Russia or the EU Sorry but that is the truth if you like or not now get on the bus to the UK and wash some dishes would you

the UK? ive never heard of such a place... You must be reffering to Poland #2...that island off of the coast of Europe we took over the past few years right?

well anyways, your argument must be right though, such an intelligent fella posting about how ones nationality determines abilities! originality at its finest i suppose.

and by the by, you might as well go out and buy some shoe wax, since the only jobs soon to be available to brits is gonna shining this polaks boots.

Poland has a bright future; as well as any other EU country. To say that it has limits is an understatement. There are no limits to what passionate people with a common goal and ways to bring it into reality can do.

By the way, perhaps you should consider moving to a different country if you want your children to study only English in school:)

Please i dont want to turn this thread into a battle-front, all i want is to discuss with POLISH people and POLANDS future, bothing else. Thanks!

well, this could be true if poland trusted more, thats the problem,, I live in the states
and I see made in on products , but never from Poland.

imports/exports bring in revenue constantly. this was talked about on another
thread, its all about trust, and its a issue that needs to be dealt with first before
anything else..

I can see your point on the united states and broken promises,, we cant keep our
own heads above water at this point.

I think that if Poland had found its new found freedom in the early 1970's then Poland may have had a better chance. However, as the Arabs put up fuel prices in the mid 1970's everything economically in Europe was turned upside down and all economic activity was sent out to the Far East. Poland today has a difficult time as they want a new Marshal Plan from the other Western countries but our economic power and World influence is in decline. Simply, the Poles have waited too late.

just vote tomorow on PO, PO will govern alone or will form coalition with sb, and any coalition with PO is sth much better for our futre, so there are reasons to be optimist.

I live in Poznan (PO wins all elections here) place with 3.6 % of unempoyment (new data) we have GDP here on 150% of EU (!!!) average. I know whole Poland can live on level we live here, what is more im 100% sure that we will live much much better.

Poland has not waited too long, if Oil is whats bringing us down, then we should invest heavily in renewable energy, and keep moving forward. We cannot keep giving reasons why we CANT, but we have to start discussing the ways we CAN! and BTW, PO all the way!

Voting makes no difference at all as you are all voting for internal solutions to external problems. Why not try Lech Walesa again, he could repaint the shipyards!

oh yes Oil prices increase especialy when we look on pirices in $. But when we Look on prices in PLN (zloty) it isnt so bad. Few years ago you had to pay 4.5 PLN for one $ and now it is only 2.6 PLN ...

michal, dude, your wrong! the thing is that there ARE internal solutions to external problems, its the way we react and adapt to these problems that dictates how we do.
If we had the correct financial policies i guarantee 100% that Poland will have a great future. This is exactly the problem i was talking about, people like you that just assume things have to be the way they are and dismiss the possibility of a powerful Polska. It is attainable, it just takes hard work and time, and a few politicians who arent stupid.

I m so glad that yo write here, because it shows that young Poles who havent live in comunist state, think in modern way. Time is what we need, look on age of PiS electorate ... ;) Look on level of debate in early '90s ;)))

I think PiS is the best for Poland, they try to improve situation of Poland, it's just that they have many difficulties with all newspapers, tv, and media in general that are against them. PO would kill Poland if they'ld come back to power "Polskosc to nienormalnosc" => Tusk means Polish is anormality how cans he say that ? didn't he want be the president of Poland ? completely mad xP

The first part & most of the post is very good...as far as the EU, this is questionable...the idea of the Common Market had it's merits, but the EU is a bureaucratic boondogle that is
heavily represented by elites who don't neccesarily have Polish interests on their agenda...but yes, the youth are the future, and a strong/healthy Polish future is what the goal is.

I don't want to sound overly pessimistic, but unfortunately we also have two powerful neighbors. While one of them seems to be content with the status quo (at least for now), the other is still stirring and looking at Poland with great hatred.

There is something which not many of us realise. I call it "Polish way of thinking" which does not help Poland nor the Poles.
This kind of thinking can be defined in one old sentence: If my neighbor has a better cow than me, I must kill it.

Having powerful neighbours is not an excuse for why we shouldnt progress. In fact, its toward these neighbours we should turn and try to build relationships and strong ties, and use their success stories as models for our own, especially Germany. And by the way, the Russians have a great reason to hate us. WE ARE PLACING AMERICAN MISSILES IN OUR COUNTRY! Putin is right, this is like a second cuban missile crisis.

On a small side note, how the hell can you deny a counry nuclear energy based on its geographical position? any nation has a right to any technology they are able to develope. This Iran problem the US is complaining about all the time is their own problem and not Europes.

While Germany would also benefit with Polands progress because of increased business opportunity, and so would the entire EU.

People need to STOP spewing out reasons why we CANT progress, like ive said, and start to give ways we CAN progress.

That must be why I don't see many cows in Poznan or Warsaw these days. ;)

Poland can and will get better. I'v heard a lot of good things about Poland. A friend of mine who moved to Canada to study medicine says she plans to transfer to Poland because it has one of the top medical schools and professors. Just yesterday I was told (by a South African) that Poland has one of the biggest Agricultural abilities and opportunities in the whole of Europe, where in a world that is becoming more and more cement-like, agriculture is becoming more needed. I am even planning to study Fine Arts in Poland next year because I beleive it has better professors and better learning opportunities than other countries.
As to who's in Govenment, i dont beleive that that is really impotrant. You determine your own future and the success of it. That is what freedom and a democratic society is all about!
