Wage question, technical field (Warsaw area)...

Hi,

I know this is a pretty broad subject, but I think any input will help.
I'm wondering what a fair, or even above average wage would be for an expat working in Warsaw or the surrounding area, when employed in a technical field, such as aviation maintenance.
I'm interested in a helicopter mechanic job in the area, but don't know what to expect or ask for in a wage.

Hmm... 6000-8000 PLN I think but I saw that you are interested in LPR and they rather don't pay more than half of that.

Is 3000 to 5000zl enough to live decently in the area. I've only spent a week in Warsaw, and I'm not familiar with the actual cost of living, such as rent, food, etc.
I don't want to move there and struggle to get by.

Depends on what are your needs (typical answer:)...If you live near underground station in a reasonable flat (by your own), this would cost you aprox 1 500 - 2000 PLN. I would say for a reasonable life without big savings you should have at least 4 000.

4,000 zl a month is close to breadline in Warsaw. 6,000 is a more realistic.

Unlike most Poles? What makes you think you should earn twice the average local salary, when you can't even speak the language, and are probably doing a job a Pole could do just as well?



African breadline, or western European breadline? I know plenty of people in Poland who earn less than that, and they manage to go on holiday, run cars, etc... hardly "breadline" wages. If you want a western lifestyle, move to the West!

I read somewhere that an Accountant earns around 3-4000 PLN before tax. Surely 4k after tax should allow for a good lifestyle then. Unless of course Accountant has a different meaning in Poland than in the UK or Ireland.....

I am now with 4200 to 4.500 after tax I pay a rent of all my bills are 600 because I have a gonverment flat still is not much you will need 5500 gross then is ok

Well, Polski_zyd, if there was a large number of Poles with my experience on western built aircraft I guess Polish companies wouldn't need to hire western techs.
I didn't post this thread to argue with you, but rather to ask a legitimate question.

If Polish companies are having to hire western techs then it's reasonable to expect them to pay western wages. So ask them for that much.
