yes, that's true! its usually always people who have had such messed up lives that they couldn't take it anymore so they gave up and turned to God because everything else led nowhere. not everyone gets to that point and are okay with their lives.

But this will never change the fact that they're criminals...Period! Accepting god is just an excuse to try to make people forget what you've done wrong. If there's a hell and you don't follow the commandments...guess what? Hell time WOOT!

Well I guess that depends on the crime. Say a child was raped and killed. Would you or your god accept an apology?

a simple I'm sorry isn't enough. a person who commits a crime should want to pay for their crime and not fight punishment, even if it means facing a death sentence. and they can never commit crime again. people who don't appologize or who try to get out of paying for their crimes and commit more crimes are fakes and don't deserve forgiveness.

I know you said that you don't believe in the Bible but that's the exact reason God put an end to the old system of sacrificing a lamb for forgiveness. because people used it as a way to excuse their crimes and other behavior. the stench of the burning sacrifice made God sick. Jesus was the last sacrificial lamb. and I'm sure it still disgusts God when people use him as an excuse to commit crimes, etc. they're considered fakes.

how did we ever get onto this topic? poor Jimmyjames. we hijacked his thread. all he wanted was to find a girlfriend.

Cali, Born agains try to be more like Jesus and repent but nobody becomes sinless. Born again Christians still sin. It is hard for people to imagine that God would be crucified on a Cross for his creation. Jesus became lower than a worm so mankind could live for eternity with God. It is hard for us to understand how much the Lord loves us. God himself said that someday the mysteries, like children dying and catastrophies will be explained to us. Anyway, this life is a blink of an eye compared to eternity. Life is good, Heaven is great but being with Jesus for eternity is greater. Yes Jesus said that a person must be Born again for a person to reach heaven. However there are instances of people being born again Christians at birth.
The first Chritians were Jews. Peter(a Jew) started the Catholic Church in Rome. Catholics are Christians. Although in the middle ages the Catholic church sold pieces of paper for the extinction of sins. In other words you could buy your way into heaven. The paper for adultry cost more than the paper for killing your mother and father. Muslims believe that doing good works will get you to heaven. Many Christians believe that doing good works will get you to heaven. The only way to know Father God and to get to Heaven is to know that Jesus is God. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened. Seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and everything else would be added. If somebody wants to Know God above anything they will find God and he will love them and they will know God and love God. Love God with all your Mind, Heart and Soul. God still makes surprise visits.

I don't trust "born again Christians". They become pretty weird. You can't have a normal conversation with them. Everything is "Jesus this...Jesus that" so, I RUN!

I’m a Non Conformist [Baptist/Methodist/ Evangelical tradition] and I’ve kind of accepted that I’m going to have to convert to Catholic to marry the women I love- it’s caused me some problems as I can’t accept the Pope in his role and I don‘t believe in the Trinity, but beyond that we are both Christians with differing traditions so I think my faith can accept it.

Hey, even catholics differ in their beliefs. I married an american catholic but his views are different than my Polish catholic upbringing. He feels it's OK to get a vasectomy behind his wife's back.
I'm already divorced from him, now I'm going for the annulment.
Which he won't get.

It shouldn’t be too hard to convert, as I was never baptised [we don’t do christening of the baby, when you are ready to commit fully to god you are baptised].

The easiest way is for me and GF to marry into my church, then go to Poland to the priest and explain we have committed a sin by marrying out of the Catholic Church, we then go through another ceremony where we accept that our marriage is null in the eyes of the Catholic church and the Church blesses the marriage as a Catholic marriage, on the understanding that any children born to us will be Catholic.

That’s how my preacher explained it to me anyway, he hasn’t got any issues with me marrying a Catholic as long as I make it work and honour God- and he’s worried that denying my belief [Jesus was mortal/ no Holy Trinity] will be difficult for me to do- and if I don’t then the Catholic Church won’t bless the marriage.

GF doesn’t much care as long as she gets married in a Catholic Church in Poland- because to her there’s only 1 church and never mind all this Non- Conformist ******** stupid Welshman sonny me lad.

I don’t need a church to honour God, so really it’s the Catholic church that has an issue with me rather than I with them.

I know what you mean.

I am Catholic and my husband is Church of England ( kind of he was baptised there). We were married in Poland in Catholic church. Polish priest only asked for my husband's baptising ceritficate.Maybe the easiest for you would be get baptised in your church now and produce certificate for Polish priest?

That’s how my preacher explained it to me anyway, he hasn’t got any issues with me marrying a Catholic as long as I make it work and honour God- and he’s worried that denying my belief [Jesus was mortal/ no Holy Trinity] will be difficult for me to do- and if I don’t then the Catholic Church won’t bless the marriage.

I don't think it will be issue. Noone will force you to change your beliefs and I think that your girfried respects it. In the end of they day you are both Christians.

Thanks for that Iwona, that’s very encouraging, my GF goes to Poland for Christmas soon and she is going to make some enquiries to check, obviously ‘everyone‘ is Catholic in Poland so she isn‘t sure of the process- I’m happy to be married into the Catholic faith

I am glad to hear it.

I think that one main requirement for you will be to get baptised.

I'm trying to convert to a mere mortal, as being a god is too great a burden for me.
Sadly, I can't seem to find explicit instructions written in clear English on how to proceed.
Oh well, nevermind....
Maybe there's a technical 'howto' on the web some where
