Hi all I am desperately trying to work out how I am going move to Gdynia to live with my girlfriend who is studying there, I have been there a couple of times now. I want to try and live there with her full time as the distance has become to much for us. I have read a bit into studying a TEFL course as a way of earning to survive but I am totally lost as where to look in gdyna or the tri-cities for somewhere to work. Any ideas where to start?? Any help would be fantastic. I just want to be able to live and get by. I don’t think my current line of work would be any good out there, I am a store manager of 8 years for a large brand in the centre of London.

TEFL is your only chance..........get TEFL qualified and ask your girl friend about local TEFL schools around the city.

Usually your given accommodation.

Hi Daniel and welcome, the schools will normally post ads in the local papers saying they are looking for English teachers.

quite a few language schools in the tri city - bell and english unlimited being perhaps the larger... but theres also berlitz, profi-lingua, etc etc

daves cafe has a polish forum that is probably worth checking theres a gdansk thread atm... if you search thru previous threads you will also fink links to lists of polish language schools

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewforum.php?f=19

if you dont want to spend loads of wonga on a tefl cert then check out callan schools which have their own methodology

http://www.callan.co.uk/xml_php_schs/poland_northwest.php

many schools will only hire on the ground which requires a bit of lag work... this is also not the best time of year to look for work...

If you have that much experience in buisness you can also star you own company here.
It's of course hard at the begining but in time who knows...
Polish economy is growing very fast so it may be your chance - look for some black holes which you could fill

Look and you will find (Szukajcie a znajdziecie)

best time t o look for teaching work is the start of the academic year - sept/oct

how much money you need for a year will depend on your circumstances and expected life style - there aere other threads here that will help you calculate

You could always teach the Callan method, no costly TEFL. There are literally hundreds of English schools in the area but beware many are rubbish. Perhaps if you are heading out next year you could study for a TEFL (CELTA) part time whilst you work. Plus just save save save, becasue if you can touch down in Polska with say £5000 in your pocket, you might not even have to work for a year

Hey dan,
I'm in the same boat mate. Looking to move to gydnia with my girlfriend.
Everyone is telling me the same thing. If you fancy starting a company out there and want an english partner let me know. I just need a short term fix, untill I can qualify as a teacher. I'm currently living in Manchester
