Anyone ever run the Warsaw half marathon?

It's usually March, isn't it? Am thinking of combining it with a trip there next year....

Can anyone tell me what the course is like etc.

No, no. Running is just not my thing! :)

Good luck to anyone who does take part though :)

Trust me it's not mine either - but it's a bloody good excuse to loose a few pounds (for me anyway), get fit and see Warsaw from a different perspective!

Think about it, you might just enjoy it.

Just realized that I'm sat here eating half a box of Płasie Mleczko! That's not gonna help!

If we get a team together you should at least come and cheer us on.

Good excuse for a weekend break me thinks ;)

Nope. Training starts now (and is delayed by Christmas) :)

A PF team would be bloody fab......if there's enough interest you should make a 'sticky' thread with the names of PF members taking part............it might generate more interest.

Good publicity for PF, ...........and would give me the chance to raise some money for an exchange visit I am trying to organise, bringing 16 Polish pupils from Osieck to work with pupils in Kilwinning in Scotland for a week in May.

we need to decide on a charity to run for.

but do we need to run? I would rather climb or ski, cyckling can be too, and dream destination is Zakopane. I have never been there.

It is the Warsaw HalfMarathon so I guess you would need to run :)

Ahhh, Zakopane - I'll be there on Feb, but don't think anyone will give me money for snowboarding! A half marathon will be a nightmare - so that's why people will sponsor us ;) No pain, no gain............:)

I'm seriously considering this - I ran the Hamburg marathon this year and last (the full 42 km or 26.2 miles), but have got out of training since then.

Hmmm.... very tempted by this half in Warsaw though.

You'll be in better shape than me - furthest I've ever done is a 10k - Plenty of time for training after xams.....:)

So Team so far:
gdj67 - confirmed
LondonChick - maybe
PolskaDoll - cheering from the side!

We only need 3 people to enter as a 'team'. Here are the requirements for 'team' entry:

I'd be up 4 this big time! Added bonus 4 me is i've never seen warsaw. Just a bit worried that LondonChick (a serious runner) might doubt my ability to finish the half-marathon, as i posted a photo (entitled uwaga zły pies!) at the end of my intro & would need first to assure her it's really not me & that i'm in slightly better shape for a potential PF team...LOL!! I'll be watchin' this thread!! Gdj67/Gary...my admiration for the way you've grabbed the ball & ran...i'm following u...c'mon PolskaDoll u know it makes sense & sana u do this & u will have unlimited "persuasion" when u post an alternative PF team idea!!

Simple - Eat less, do more! lol, seriously a 30/45 min run every other day is the only training you need to do until a month before, then up it to 60 mins, 4weeks before, 75mins 3 weeks before, 90 mins two weeks before and 105 mins in the final week.
That should get you crossing the line in a comfortable 2 hours - well that's what i'm told. Guess I'll see on the day.

But if LondonChick is a serious runner, maybe she's the best person to ask?

None that I can see, but I'm half way through a bottle of wodka so I'll need to check tomorrow!

Dobrze - so here's the 'team' so far:

gdj67 - confirmed
superjay - confirmed
LondonChick - maybe
PolskaDoll - cheering from the side!
sana - still to be convinced - loose the ski's and get a snowboard!

We only need one more to register the PF Team,

I agree, I,ve never enjoyed running but it keeps me fit - If I could snowboard every other day the I'd do that instead.

Would you at least agree to come and cheer on the PF Team with PolskaDoll?

sana and PDoll - team cheerleaders! mmmmm, should we get you two some pom poms? ;)
