I a very big 'rail fan' and have had the opportunity to ride on Metro systems in most of the US and some foreign countries...How is the Warsaw Metro, and how is progress going on it's extension?...how is public transit generally in Warsaw, whether light rail (trolley), bus or regional rail...I'd appreciate comments...and here's an article on the Warsaw Metro from

Hi. i have travlled the metro twice and it is fine. Basic but gets you from a to b quickly. I think they are extending it bit by bit but there is currently only the one underground line.
in relation to other forms of transport, warsaw has a very good bus and tram system in place. A number of different trams lines and many buses. Warsaw people might complain about it but i am originally from dublin and oh to have a transport system like warsaw in dublin.

There's supposed to be a second metro line in time for Euro 2012 but I can't see it happening. The tram and bus network is extensive but can be very busy and crammed at rush hour.

If the city authorities could see straight, they would adapt the existing local train network instead of building another underground line parallel to it. But that would limit all kinds of pork-barrel contracts and goodies for backers, and no politician is going to go for that.
