It won't let me post a follow-up message after my own message

Admin? Mod?
What does this mean?

Sorry, you cannot post a new message in this thread since you are still the last poster in this thread and could still edit this message. Please use the Edit function if you want to edit your last message.

edit: That worked, but it won't let me post a follow up message.
Am I just being a donkey or what?

VERY BIG EDIT:
This is not straight after another message. It's about two hours or more since the last one which was on a different thread entirely.

smaller edit:
Looks like I'm not the only one.

ADMIN, did you change my topic title? It's now got the wrong title.

Edit # 6
I made one post in a thread I had been trying to post in, but elsewhere (where I'm not the last poster), it still came up with the same error message.

Edit # 5
Quoting: Admin
- the user is still the last poster in this thread.

I hadn't posted in the thread I tried posting in, and I haven't been trying to post twice successively in the same thread.

Edit # 4
This is the grooviest edit yet. I'm highlighting instances of the word edit and the numbers that follow.

Edit # 3
This edit is just a re-ordering of the previous edits! I'm putting new stuff at the top instead now.

Edit # 2

Its not just Osiol and Celinski, somethings gone major Fubar I just thought I'd bring up another thread to let the admin know this isnt a one off. then you can scrap it :)

That's the way it seems.
Maybe I'll get a record number of edits on one post before the problem is solved!
That's seeing the silver lining around the cloud.

Then edit that last post that you really did make.

Edit # 1:
It looks like 'hello' and 'rafik' can post, while others can't
Mods! Any luck with that test?

And flippin' 'eck! Michal can post!

It means it works ;).

Yes, the new feature prevents from posting a new message by the same user - if the following conditions are met:

- the user can still edit the old message (it's possible to edit one's own message within 30 minutes from posting that message),

- the user is still the last poster in this thread.

PS. Yes, your title was edited.

Thread attached on merging:
Too much good stuff is not good at all.

I tried to help with a translation, but it won't let me since I just offered help with another translation. The message is:

WTF?

but the last post is not the one that still needs translation. My last post is the way I want it. With this lates silly rule, some translations may be stuck unanswered for weeks.

way to go admin :)

I agree! Also, sometimes I post different posts in asnwer to different posts. Yesterday, I had to answer different posts in the same post, so we ended up eating cat and cheese in the same post.

Way to go admin!! :)

Yes. About a week ago there were 3 or 4 threads about this.

What happened was the new system FAILED and didn't allow some people to post even when there was no previous post to edit. I've had no problems since.

The actual idea is not a bad one. It saves one poster posting post after post successively. Crikey! I didn't realise I could post 'post' so many times in one post!

It could be true if there was only one global thread regarding translations. But most of the times one translation request = one new thread. Editing the post should do the trick.

You probably mean about 60 minutes or less when the idea was being implemented..

The reader doesn't usually care if you post two or more ideas in one post or in two separate posts. It's actually easier to read one post than two posts, even if there are two or more ideas covered.

But if you don't want to use the Edit feature, you can still post after your own post - but you have to wait 30 minutes to do so (as you already noticed by posting two follow-up messages above).
