Salary expectations in Poland

Does anyone know what a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator should expect to earn working in Krakow for a building contractor? Are there many construction jobs over there at the moment? Will fluent Polish be essential for this type of job?

Almost every doctor with a few years of experience earns at least 10 000 zlotys ( which makes nearly 3 000 € EUR) per month. So don't be ridiculous writing that someone gets 1000 zł... The doctors only complain but I don't know any who e.g. spends holiday in Poland... Everyone on Canary Islands, in Egypt , Marocco etc.


An average salary in Poland is nowadays ( data for August 2008) 3165 zł which equals 928 € or 1286 $ monthly. An please check the data made by GUS (Main Statistical Office) before writing nonsense.

P.S. Do you really want to prove somehow that Poland is poor ?

Me - student* - IT - full time job - Poland (big city) - 3k net (which is considered as low salary in my field).

Guy with degree, say 2-3 yrs experience in my field can make 6k net

Specialist 3-5+ yrs of experience in field, talented - 10k net.

and that's it... no more than 10-12k in my field :-) but I think I will start my own business.... I can't imagine me working full time for next ~40yrs :D

*but I was working before and have experience which most of students don't have

What a load of crap, most doctors that I know are on 2500zl and make the difference up with private work.

I'm moving to Poland, they offerted me 5500 manager in small export company. I speak Polish.

I was on holidays last week, I wasn't looking for a job but I got offer: 4000zl for PHP programmer. Not bad in my opinion (northern Poland).

Is there a way to determine actual salary ranges for companies in the IT sector?
For example, if I wanted to find out how much Company ABC pay their new grad hires is there any straightforward way to find out?

You've written a crap , not me ! 2500 zł ? Funny :D Why didn't you mention how much they (the doctors) get from one simple night duty ? In the hospital in my town ( 40 thousand people ) they get 700 zł.

The only Doctor i know is a department manager who after being in the service for 20 years or so earn 7500pln. Misiek, i think ur pulling figure out of the air.

Doctors always do that.Especially if the public healthcare system is not good,they take advantage.Generally it is hard to estimate how much doctors are worth because if you pay them what they really deserve,the economy would get down.It cannot afford it.

Im moving to warsaw with my girlfriend in the new year. I have a flat in london which I will rent out and should net me around 5,000zl per month.

My girlfriend has an MSc and hopes to work as a lab technician and if I cannot find any legal industry based or proofreading work I will hope to teach English.

With a base of 5,000zl, careful living and apartment rental choices should we be ok?

you talk absolute nonsense, local doctors in small town are paid very poor wages, that is why a lot have left to work in GB. The local hospitals have no funds to pay for this the of wages, they cannot afford to pay for bandages and clean sheets in there hospitals.

5000 zl net should be ok I think (for most parts of poland, not sure about warsaw). Depends on life standard you want to get (you wont be driving porsche unfortunately)

The job offer is at an international company - an office job in the financial department which involves also keeping in touch with the office in my country.

They did not offer me a salary yet, but they asked me to make an estimate of the expenses I'm going to have ( rent, food, etc.) and based on this to figure out the salary they will give me.

Could you please let me know what are the living costs in Krakow and what would be a good salary?

Absolute nonsense. My girlfriends friend is a doctor practising on one of the larger hospitals in Krakow, he gets nowhere near 700 zl for one 'simple nights duty' You are delusional. Total crap !! He is even considering moving to Ireland as his salary is so bad.


Nonsense, the majority of Poles dont earn anyhting close to that amount. It is this insecurity that some Poles exhibit and the fear of being considered 'poor' which is so silly, and frustrating for foreigners wishing to get an accurate desription of salaries and living expenses etc in Poland.

Well, it was 2700PLN, enigma. ZUS has risen which means that wages have too. I'd say 2,900PLN would be about the average, before tax and ZUS.

The point is, it is shrouded in mystery.

in the Warsaw area average wages according to the press are about 2900-3200 PLN gross. No doubt the financial crisis/scam will motivate employers to lower wages a little, reasoning that if you are lucky enough to have a job or to get one then you wont complain about a pay cut.

As to above figures, one can deduce that many workers who work part time or in the informal sector are propably not counted, and there are very many of them. The real figure is probaly around 2000 PLN, less in the country and in small towns.

Perhaps around 2500PLN after wage revisions as a result of the crisis. The average here in Silesia is around 1800PLN, it's nothing like as wealthy as it was 30-40 years ago.

It shouldn't be about salary expectations, more about getting or keeping a job.

I am looking at building a web based application at the moment. A friend and I have been working on it and well it is still a long way to go, but.. once it is complete if it takes off we will be looking at multi-lingual support as well as general upkeep.

I am wondering how much we would be looking at spending to get 'work from home' resources in Poland, so there would be no office only programming from your own home.

Technical resources with skills in PHP/javascript/programming flash & mysql etc as well as web security. Graduate type people would not be appropriate.

So for example if we were to look at hiring someone for 20-40 hours per week, how much would it cost approximately? (I would prefer to get a rough estimation of what the "hourly" costs are)

We are looking at a number of countries to compare prices, though price is not the only issue, quality of work is far more important. The costs in Australia are far too high and we would not want to do full support ourselves the whole time.

Please remember this is just high level stuff, we are not actually looking to employ anyone just at this moment, just to get a feel for the marked
