Hi All,

I am an Indian and very soon will be transfered to Krakow, Poland.
My monthly salary will be 6000PLN after tax.

I wanted to know what would an average monthly expense for 1bed room flat(other cheaper options if any), daily food(no drinking habit), travel and miscellaneous.

Is that salary enough to spend a decent life in Krakow with little saving..?
Can anyone please suggest.. ?

Thanks

Yes, you should be able to save up to half of that money.

Income Tax:

Income tax is progressive - the more you earn, the higher your rate. In 2013 the tax rates for individuals are 18% and 32%.

Bracket - Annual income - Rate
1 up to 3091 PLN 0%
2 3091-85.528 PLN 18%
3 over 85.528 PLNn 32%

Value Added Tax:
- Standard: 23%
- Some Food: 8%
- Some special products: 5%

Much more information is available in this book of Polish Ministry of Finance:

Yes, it's well above average - you should have no problems living and even saving a little on that. You will however pay quite a lot of tax.

Yes! You should be able to rent a small 1 bedroom for between 1300 - 1600 zloty close to the center. I used to pay 2000 zloty for a slightly larger one bedroom but it was also only a 2 minute walk from the Rynek. Plus extra costs you may be looking at 2000 altogether.

That leaves you with 4k left which is plenty even for Krakow.

I am not sure if this is a serious question or not........!?

Depends on your qualifications, your position and whether you are single or have a family to support. It could be quite good or very poor, depending. Give details.

6K/8k is a middle/upper middle income in most large cities in pl. Its enough for one person to live half decent but even then not saving much and avoiding certain luxuries.
