Average monthly salary in Poland is around 1000 PLN (few hundred bucks).

The salaries in Poland are so ridiculous, Poland should raise them aloot. It wont hurt the economy becuse the goverement will have the money back from the taxes.

Wages here aren't that bad really, the average office worker seems to earn around 3500 pln per month which is more than enough to live fairly well as food and rent are so cheap. Things like electrical goods, cars and fuel aren't proportional to wages but everything else is.

dnz is originally from the UK so in comparison it is a lot cheaper, that's if you're earning a good wage...if not, prices keep rising and certain people get poorer and poorer.

I would say Poland (food prices) are reasonable, but it's not like you're going to get a weekly luxury shop for £10 - people seem to have this premisconception that Poland is dirty cheap and you can live on a pittence - it's simply not true.

The first time I went to the Czech republic I paid 30p for a pint of beer and £2.50 for a steak dinner (including coffee :))) - those times are well and truely gone! Exchange rates are bad in EU has expanded......

Average gross earnings in Poland are among top in Central Eastern Europe:

They are very close to Portugal's and this year they will be about 60% of Spain's.

In Warsaw average is about 30% above national.

And the best thing of all.. they are increasing 10% this year in zloty's terms and much more in Euro's terms.

My friend finished a master degree in economics and now earns 1500PLN and it took her 6 months to find a job like that. Her husband earns 900 PLN working in a supermarket. They are living with her parents cause they can't afford rent or to buy a place I think in Australian dollars it ends up being 1100 a month between the both of them. In Australia 2 people on a average wage earn that a week sometimes even more. I don't know how they survive cause the food prices in Poland have gone up so much in 5 years when I was in Poland last year I couldn't believe how expensive things had become. Even water and electricity is expensive now days so I feel for her a lot. They say the wages are going up but by very little.

don't be silly. Some people live on that and there are many people who struggle financially in Poland and you seem to pretend that it doesn't exist.

I know people who make PLN 1000, but I also know some that make PLN 30.000 per month (in Warsaw). It depends on what you one does for a living. Most of my friends in Wroclaw make between PLN 3000 - 6000 per month. A few make over 10.000.

the average salary in PL doubled since this thread was first conceived. it's 2000zl to 2500zl per month now.

No disrespect plk123, u r a good poster, but there's so much nonsense spread around regarding the average salary per month, this is just one more example of it. Anyway, who cares what people earn? Only in productions like Star Trek:TNG is there true meritocracy.

I live in Wroclaw now...I spent also 1 year in Lodz 2 years ago...and I can see with no doubts the prices are much higher.

I dont think interesting is the word, my parents spend a large proporition of year in Cyprus and they got it earlier on in the year and prices have absolutely rocketed! :(

Interesting info. My boyfriend is from the US but is living in Sosnowiecz, Poland for a year. Everything is so expensive there and the wages are so low, that we simply did not understand how the average person was affording these ridiculously priced apartments. He is staying in a small apartment where the rent is 3600 zl. I live in the US in a nicer, much larger apartment that costs the equivalent of 1300 zl.

This includes electricity, gas, satellite T.V., dancing girls, credit for the casino, the limo, basically all the modern conveniences :)

Well, it includes electricity and water. Actually it is probably less than 3600 zl... I think I made an error in the conversion. About 4 months ago, I was told it was the equivalent of $1200 US, but I think the zloty was a lot stronger then. Sorry for the confusion.

Definitely, yes. The place right opposite, pretty much the same kind of place, costs 1000PLN. I hope my neighbours don't know how little I pay. I have a special agreement with my landlord.
