Many Brits who enjoyed the good times are going back home frustrated and disappointed. At least they will get there money back when they change there zlotes to pounds.

This is in the minority, the Prime Minster of Poland earns less. Stop trying to give the wrong slant of what people earn in Poland, the average wage is 3000zl most earn more in the range of 2000zl minus tax. people on disability get somewhere in the range of 600zl a month, pensioners get around 800zl.
You may be earning good money now my friend but this will change when there will be a oversupply of IT people (like what has occurred in the west)

3000zl to 5000zl minus tax and zus is not much anyway.

Diesel 600zl pcm Phone landline, mobiles and internet 400zl Food 1200zl pcm bills (water and electr) 300zl Going out, fun 1200zl pcm So thats 3700zl pcm NOT INCLUDING RENT OR MORGAGE. We live in the Tri-city area, our lives are comfortable but not excessive. Our combined income is between 7,000zl to 9,000zl a month after tax. Wages do not match the cost of living here.

How do people on survive on the average wage of 3000zl net (1800zl gross)
How much money do you need for a house deposit and how much could you borrow and still pay for the necessities of life.

A lot of people on this forum like to impress others and overstate what they earn, Poles are like that!!!

I know a lot of professional people in Poland and unless your self employed in production/food industry getting above 10,000 zl is a hard call.
Very few people who teach english get more than 3500zl, some get bit more but this will change in the future.

Hmm, I do teach English much to my Chargin but whats a chap to do when he speaks unitelligeble Polish. I am very lucky since my boss is a friend and I'm treated very well.

Here in Warsaw people make a lot more than 3500zl per month. The average school is paying 45zl net for 45 minutes. Teach 90 minutes in the morning, two 90 minute blocks in the evening and you earn 270zl a day, 1350zl a week, 5400zl a month.

On that salary it is possible to borrow up to 400,000zl on a 30-year mortgage and the repayments will be in the region of 1800zl a month. Try buying a flat in the centre of London and having enough money left from your salary to buy food.

Sure Poland is not as cheap as it was, but I certainly have a far better lifestyle than my friends in the UK.

The banks will not lend you the full amount on a flat, and what can you buy for 400,000 zl, some run down 2 room flat in a dirty grey building, wow how lovely.

If grey and dirty is not your thing, Warsaw isn't the city for you. 400,000 will actually by an apartment in excellent condition in a good neighbourhood close to the city centre.

Hi, everybody! I'm planning to settle in Katowice/Poland for years from May, 2009, because my bf is a polish and we are going to marry. He graduated just for one year...
I'm from Shanghai, China. I've been in Poland in Feb. I'm working in an international Fast-Moving-Consumer-Goods company in Shanghai. I'm wondering whether I can find a job there without understanding Polish. I know English well...
My second question is how much do we have to earn regardless of the flat renting in Poland??? I hope we still can go to cine, restaurants and go shopping at weekends, as well as my life in Shanghai.
I was also confused at the incomes and expense in Poland..... The salary level in Poland is kind of similar to it in Shanghai, sometimes it's even lower in Poland, while the living cost in Shanghai is lower.

Hi... I would be coming to Warsaw to stay for an year or so. I would be working on IT. From the discussion here, i feel that anything around 5000zl would be fine. How is the work culture in Poland? I have stayed in Germany and was very pleased with their work style. Can any one give me some pointers about how to mingle with Poles?I mean how to ask a girl to go on date.... for eg. :)

Name me one person who earns 10,000PLN, icypole? Try 80,000PLN a month, according to my voodoo doctor (fiancee). Personally, I refuse to believe that many Poles earn more than 30,000PLN a month. Everyone is amazed when I tell them I earn 6,500PLN a month.

I just got rejected from a tranfer school in USA (Massachusetts) as a sophmore. i am planning to move to poland to be with my family and i was wondering how hard it is to get a job as a bartender. also how much would a bartender make in say Sczcecin. i'll be staying with my grandparents for a few months or so to get started and then i plan to apply to an english speaking school even though i speak polish fairly well since i grew up on it.
so basically how hard is it to become a bartender(i have a license), how much would i make, and could i live on that if i was to go to school at the same time and rent an apartment with some of my cousins.

Minimum wage here is around 5zl an hour. I'd be very doubtful if you could make more than 10PLN an hour in a bar (unless you were somewhere that tipped very very well) - though others may know better.

Is your Polish good enough to work in a bar environment?
