What would be the cost of living for a married couple who will be getting free apartment & company maintained car ?? Kindly consider comfortable leisurely living with weekly outing & occassional drinking too.

My partner is earning 5000+ netto, and I have been given the opening of 4000+ netto, you mean that we will not live comfortable on that? We have a new built owned appartment, and new car so no big expenses coming up what we know at least. I would say that we have together around 10000 Zlt where 4-5000 goes in costs. You dont think that 4-5000 willl be enough for: food and ejoyment(traveling). Or I shall look for another option of work? Might add that I dont speak polish, but have a master degree and tons of work experience. Reason that I like this opening is that it suits me as I want to use my mother tounge daily. Thanks for any help that can be given...

Hi i'm planning to move to Poland with my wife, the salary that is offered is something like 11.000 bruto, for wroclaw. If anyone can help us, our questions are: 1 - How much is it netto? 2 - Is that enought for leaving without so much worries? 3 - Is Wroclaw a nice city? Thank you for any help

I've just discovered it as I aim to move for a new job to Warsaw in the next few months and was wondering if the situation with the average salary has changed in the meanwhile since the last post is dated May 21st 2011. What I got is that if you earn monthly net around 7500 zl for a family with two 10 years old kids (flat rent paid by company) this could be quite OK. Or am I on the wrong way ... ???

If your accomadation is fully covered, 7,500 PLN net ( disposable) will be enough for you to survive, it will not be a life of luxury, although it will be comfortable. The main question for you will be schools, if you are going Polish you will need the right catchment area. If you want to go private then this will eat into your basic. I hope you have private medical insurance inclusive of your package. If you have any questions you can send me a pm or other people on here, who are familiar with Warsaw are Harry, Jonnym and Pip.

f you want to go International the top two will set you back 55,000-70,000PLN per school year, so that is NOT an option for sofianec on the assumption her package is on or around 7,500 PLN net ( per month). There are two very good al girl schools, with English and french as second languages, which could be an option. Although I would have to know more about the needs for sofianec's kids before even mentioning schools.

Hi Sofieanec -

Taking in consideration it is Warsaw I tend to agree with Wedle that it would be enough to survive. Nothing fancy as Warsaw is big and fuel cost is high 1.2 -1.4E/l of 95oct. Food is cheaper then in EU but if you want the quality one, then difference is nimble. Restaurants are cheaper if you prefer to eat out. On the other hand branded clothes are at the same price or even more expensive, sales are not the same as in EU (they tend to limit it to past season mainly) and you cannot haggle (the prices are set). Also be aware - no way to return the items you bought!
But if you wish to give Poland a try, please do. I encourage you very much as it is a beautiful country to see.

I would say that if you need to rent a flat like in Poznan or in Wroclaw you need at least 3500-4000PLN net per month which is not to high not too low. Its easy now to get job between 2000-2500PLN net in such cities but it wont be enough for you. Renting flat cost there about 1500-2000PLN and Im saying about 1 bedroom (including living room). Its always better to coook buy yourself which is cheaper and healthier here then to go to bars. Warsaw is more expensive so you need to earn more. I think that Germans prefer to stay in Wroclaw or in Poznan, because its closer to the border and there are lots of Germans there as well. You can also think about Szczecin. Its only 10 km from Germans border and not so far away from Berlin and Baltic sea. But Wroclaw is the most dynamic place in Poland now, and you will find there job easily comparing with other cities.

Would you seriously recommend sending a child with no Polish language to a Polish schools, especially "good" ones?

From what I know - "good" schools are the ones that are very very demanding - they won't have the patience to deal with foreign kids, especially ones who don't speak the language and risk dragging down their rankings.

Grounded: Hi, thanks for the replies. So if i would earn 2000 after tax would that be a good Salary in Warsaw? When I say good I dont mean enough to survive mind you though. if your accomodation and bills are included yes. I live in a flat with everything in 1 room 32sqm and pay around 1300zl inc bills and internet. food is between 150-350zl a week for 2 of us.

It's a bit different as there is a wall separating the sleeping area and a walkway through but no door.

no it is a bachelor. quite common here. In fact throw in the mother in law and two dogs and it is quite typical. Perhaps you would know this if you were in Poland, no?

Yea, that's different alright, In Ireland ,anyway,it would most definitely be called a bedsit,as for the rest of Europe I don't know__ had a bedsit in England once and had to share the bathroom so....

I know quite a few couples that live in such condition though. I think these Bachelor/Bedsits, or what ever you call these cages, are illegal in Ireland now. Proper order.

Hello Guys.
I have some questions for you, if you are kind enough to answer.

I received an offer of 3200+500 PL relocation package for an IT position(Helpdesk with Italian+English) in Poznan and i declined it as i seemed too low.
I have 3 years experience in such field and i worked for big companies such as Vodafone,Ibm and Hp.
Now i have another interview for more or less the same position in Poznan.
How much do you think i should settle for?
I'm fluent in Romanian, Italian , English , French with moderate Spanish.

The offer you received is low, but probably in line with what young people with some qualification and couple years of experience get in Poland. Your strength (other than your IS) skills is knowledge of languages. If this is what's required in the new job, you can put decent price to it. If you are single, than 4-5 000 nett will probably be enough to live ' young guys life'. Otherwise accommodation and kids schools can consume a lot.
