Small family, modest living, in a 2bed apartment with toddler in kindergarten.

I hear tax is 30%.

Is 15,000 a good salary ?

Still waiting to hear from employer, thought of asking fellows here for quick advice.

Median salary is 2000 PLN NET/ per month . Give more details about your salary.

That will get you what you're asking about. And more. It's not a stellar salary but it will certainly put you in the top few percent in Wroclaw (although in most families both parents work).

Median salary is 2000 PLN NET/ per month .

Do you happen to have a source for that? A reliable one that is up to date? I'd be surprised if you do.

After tax 15000 is good money. Before tax it is less good, but still much more than most people in that city and enough to have a decent lifestyle with.

Data from Central Statistical Office of Poland for october 2010 (I think they publish that each 2 years, so data for 2012 will be available in this year):

stat.gov.pl/gus/5840_7257_PLK_HTML.htm

Half of the employees in the national economy was paid a total gross 2906.78 zł (median = fifth decile = central wage).

According to [wynagrodzenia.pl/kalkulator_oblicz.php] 2906 is equal to 2090.90 net.

So taking into consideration that average monthly salary in the whole year 2012 was 3521,67 zł
- nearly the same as in October 2010 3543,50 zł. I assume that median salary in the year 2012 is also around 2100 PLN

That's why I usually write that median salary in Poland is around 2000 PLN - because I haven't seen exact numbers for the year 2012 - GUS prefers to announce average, but some data are available and I think the space for mistake is not so big.

Thank you for your kind feedback.

15,000 pm is anticipated.

Please also advice if 30%tax deduction also include social security contributions & medical insurance?

Warm regards.

More or less yes. The tax calculator that Monitor posted a link to will give an exact amount, but yes, it includes those things. Assuming you're on a full-time contract (affects the tax/Social + Health Insurance), you'll be left with 10,000 which is enough to live fairly well, rent a decent flat, pay for kindergarten and save some money.

You should ask if they include Medicover - most jobs in that salary range give it.

1) Approx. 13k PLN net (wynagrodzenia.pl/kalkulator_oblicz.php).
Those are less than 2200 GBP /month ...

2) That's a great salary for a couple in Wroclaw, many senior IT specialists @ international company can have a comfy life if 7k net and even not living alone.

Keep in mind the zloty devaluation, in 5 years it passed from 1:4 to 1:6 to the GBP ...

Hey Ujj,

That is incredible. I had no idea that someone can earn that kind of money as salaried worker in Poland. What line of work are you in?

It is credible. This shows you how low (third world level) salaries in Poland are!19 k PLN is roughly $5000.Truck driver salary in the US.

Hi Trucker1,
It's a truck driver salary in US that's for sure. But if you think about it - a kilo of apples costs around 5 bucks in US as opposed to 50 cents in Poland. So it's 10 times difference. Same applies to pretty much everything starting from groceries and services to real estate. So I don't think it's really comparable.

No it doesn't ,brother! E.g 2 bedroom apartment in Chicago $700-800 a month, pair of jeans (wrangler etc) $15,kilo of ham $7,bread (Polish!) $1,sneakers (nike etc) $50, gallon of gasoline $2.50.Ok, healthcare cost is ridiculous here but other than that stuff is on par or cheaper than in PL.

Trucker1, well that then heavily depends on the location, cause I'm seeing prices more like 2000$ а month for 2 bedroom, 5$ for kilo of apples, 6-7$ for kilo of tomatoes and that's not even organic stuff.

I personally wouldn't think another minute about giving up 10000$ month salary in US for 5000$ month salary in Poland.

Maybe you looking up downtown Chicago bro?I am renting 2 bedroom apt for $750 a month and apples and tomatoes are $1.50 a pound so more like $3.30 a kilo but that's not a point. The point is that salaries in Poland are on third world level.
