Irish moving to Warsaw, Poland to join his girlfriend. TV stations/channels work?

Hi my name is Eddie and I'm Irish, I am planning to move to Warsaw in the next few months to join my Polish girlfriend who recently moved back. I currently work as a television Graphics operator in Ireland (live sports, news, entertainment etc.) and was wondering if anyone knew of any English speaking TV stations/channels within Poland or such positions, I know such channels exist in France, Germany etc. but I'm not sure about Poland. I realise this may be a long shot so I am also doing a TEFL course at the moment and hold a Diploma in Media, so I'm hoping this will be enough to get me a English teaching position in a language school, however I am pretty much willing to work at anything. I've visited Poland on numerous occasions and really enjoy the culture, people, food & beautiful scenery; I only know some Polish words & basic phrases. Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your help.

That will depend on which course you are doing and when you will be in Warsaw. The best time to be here is late August / early September. Put a suit on and go round all the schools handing out your CV. Hopefully you are doing a CELTA course; if you aren't, you'll be at a severe disadvantage.

Thanks for the reply Harry, unfortunately the Celta course was full up for months in advance so had to go with the 140 hour online TEFL course plus 20 hour classroom training. Still wondering about the television industry there and the possibility of English speaking work, if anyone can help. I also had a friend email me about freelance computer game testers in Warsaw, just wondering if anyone knows anything about this either. Thanks.

Still wondering about the television industry there Don't. There are no English language channels in Poland (no demand) and without Polish in most work environments you're more of a liability than an asset.

In al honesty - there is nothing. If you spoke English, along with one (or preferably two) modern European languages, you could find something - but if you're monolingual, there really will be nothing. It's not to say that there are no jobs- but these jobs will go people 'in the know' and not to any random fresh off the plane.

It won't be recognised by anyone worthwhile.

Get your money back if you can - there are plenty of other CELTA courses available in Europe.

Like Poland, for example. If you're going to join your girlfriend here anyway, you could do worse than taking CELTA in PL. Probably cheaper than in Ireland anyway. Delphi is right. These on-line courses aren't worth a fart in a stiff wind. You need a month-long intensive course. Get a refund if you've already paid.
