Question About Having A Bank Account In Poland Without Residing In Poland

Bank Question  Feb 22, 12, 19:35    #1
I need to open up a bank account in Poland but I currently don't reside there.

I've been looking at the no fee bank accounts, but it appears as though I need to provide an address and Dowod Osobisty. I have a Polish passport and PESEL.

Basically, I'm asking, is it possible to open one of these internet bank accounts in Poland without actually being in Poland and having a residential address?

Thanks in advance.

Call or email a Polish bank and ask them. Or your local Polish Embassy/consulate office. This is a legal/accounting question.

I just opened an account with Mbank here in Poland and they sent a guy out to my house, I had to sign the forms he brought with him and show my ID. It was only after that would they issue account number and debit card. I don't know if its because I'm not Polish, they wanted to check that I actually live here or if its normal to do that.
If you do contact any banks then ask if they do this, saves wasting your time.

I don't have a PESEL, at the moment I don't reside in Pl, but I was able to open a Bank Account with ING, but had to do this in person in one of their Pl branches.

If I remember correctly I had to show 2 forms of ID, British Passport and a UK driving licence was sufficient.

I opened one with the PEKAO SA bank.

I didn't have a residency or Pesel, and opened both a GBP and PLN account.
