Hey, I'm doing my masters in Krakow at the moment and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get Swedish language lessons, preferably in English but polish can be done as well.

Thanks,
Zaij.

Well, not in Kraków but you can try free lessons here from SzwedwPolsce, Sasha and myself.

You can also try the broken version of Swedish some people refer to as Norwegian LOL - Grunwald will hook you up there... ;)

Lycka till (good luck)

Just kidding about giving lessons but feel free to PM every now and then if you have question...

Hi,

first step would be to check university courses, there is some faculty with Swedish.
http://bpz.ae.krakow.pl/kurs_jezyka_szwedzkiego_2.html
Also private language schools or private lessons:

here's a price list for a course in one of language schools:

I´m a native speaker of Swedish (and I speak English fluently), and I´m staying in Kraków. If you´re interested in lessons, you can contact me on the following mail address: Balefirestorm@gmail.com.

Lykke til and Good luck!

Swedish can be quite helpfull in communication with SOME Fins and most Norwegians, maybe not that much with Danes, but it can be helpful!

Frequent traveler to Norge as my sister lives there. I was joking of course, you know, typical Swe-Nor rivalry.

Really? All three?

Used to travel to Lapua and Kuopio, Finland to see my then girlfriend's family. Both cities are in the Finnish only region but I never had any problem getting around there, they all seemed to speak some Swedish or at least to understand it.

As far as Swedish and Danish - I have a few friends working for SAS. One of them (a Swede) told me that Danes seem to understand Swedes just fine but it's more difficult the other way around. He said often you'll hear a Dane clarifying something in English and the Swede will reply in Swedish... LOL

Zaij, only wondering whether Polish or English is your native language. If it's Polish, I'd think Polish would make more sense. Then again, if it's English, many Swedes obviously will speak English far more comfortably than Polish. Either way, it's usually best to learn a foreign language in the target language you're learning, super tough though it can be at firstLOL

On the other hand Finns often speak English with Swedes, both in informal settings and in the job environment.

..although I've found they speak much better Swedish than English, the latter of which they typically prefer since it has the cache Swedish simply doesn't have-:)
