I'm a Polish-America and I would say of the 7 continents, I know the least about South America (except for Antarctica, of course). That's not to say I don't know much, I had a few friends who visited Argentina and Brasil and they had a fabulous time. It's a very beautiful area with a rich and ancient history. I feel South America, like Africa, often doesn't get the status it deserves.

I live in Poland all my life, so Brazil is quite far away ;) But if I'm asked what I know (or rather think maybe)...
Biiig party in Rio ;) I quess everyone knows that ;) Second catholicism i think? Next comes the sun, fun, soft drinks and happy people ;) Although i think there are many poor people also. Great football players too, and dancers ;) Hot and beautiful girls too ;)

For me it's also sports, cause I'm interested in that. Capoeira, which is very beautiful martial art and I like to watch it. And brasilian ju jitsu, which I practise and like very much :) I don't know how popular it is in Brasil? ;) Also tradition of vale tudo fighting.

That's what I personally think about when i hear "Brasil".

Poles and South Americans have a linked history. Of course, Napoleon sent his Polish forces to the Dominican Republic to fight of the rebels, and many Poles ended up joining the rebels cause (if they didn't die of malaria first). In Brazil, there are many Poles in Parana, Rio Grande do Sul, and Catarina. The Poles of these regions sent volunteer armies to Europe to fight for Poland in both WWI and WWII.

I know that both South America and Poland are predominantly Roman Catholic.
Samba, Bossanova, Tropicalismo and so on beat Disco Polo every time.
There are more donkeys in South America than in Poland.

My cousin and her husband from Poland just spent 3 weeks in Peru and Brazil. They just packed their back packs, got plain tickets and off they went. No plans, no arranged tours, all on their own.

I got a couple of emails from them. They were doing great and loved both countries. Yes, they came across lots of poverty, but they were also impressed with both.

I will watch their videos, see the pictures they took and hear about their adventures when I visit Poland in May.

We love Brazil because Brazilians are the only people that are as hot as the Polish :)
